Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What makes the International Music School special?

The International Music School combines high-quality musical education with a warm and child-friendly learning environment. Our goal is to inspire children through music, support their individual development, and build a long-lasting connection to music.

Our courses and individual lessons combine professional music education with playful learning, movement, creativity, and age-appropriate teaching methods.

At what age can my child participate in a music course?

Our early childhood music education is designed for babies, toddlers, and preschool children aged 4 months to 6 years. Each course is specially tailored to a specific age group, allowing children to be supported according to their individual stage of development.

When registering, please make sure that your child’s age matches the age range specified for the course at the start date.

Our instrumental and singing lessons in individual instruction are available from the age of 4. We offer lessons in piano, guitar, violin, and singing. Please feel free to contact us – we will be happy to advise you personally and help you find the right program for your child.

Does my child need previous musical experience?

No. Our courses are suitable for beginners. No previous musical knowledge is required. Every child can learn and explore music at their own pace.

How can I register my child for a course?

Registration for group courses is completed online through our booking system – separately for each location. Payment can be made conveniently by debit or credit card. If required, we can also issue an invoice.

If you are unsure which course is suitable for your child, we are happy to advise you personally and help you choose the right option.

For individual lessons, we recommend booking a free trial lesson first. You can find the registration link under the relevant instrument and location.

After the trial lesson, we will discuss the next steps with you, including the suitable lessons, the subscription contract, and your child’s individual wishes and needs.

Are the courses ongoing or do they have a fixed duration?

Our group courses are ongoing. Depending on availability, joining is possible at any time.

From an educational perspective, we recommend long-term participation, as the positive effects of musical education develop especially through regular and continuous attendance. This allows children to build musical skills, gain confidence, and develop their personal abilities in the best possible way.

Individual lessons take place weekly. Starting is also possible at any time depending on availability. Lesson times are arranged individually according to the child’s needs and our available capacities. Regular and continuous participation is equally important in individual lessons, as it supports musical development, learning progress, and motivation in the long term.

Can I attend a trial lesson?

For educational reasons, we do not offer regular trial lessons during ongoing early childhood music courses. Frequent changes caused by new children and changing accompanying adults can affect the structure and dynamics of the group.

We place great importance on stable groups and long-term, trusting work with the children. This creates a secure environment where children can develop musically and personally in the best possible way.

To give interested families an opportunity to get to know our courses, we offer trial sessions once per quarter on weekends. Current dates can be found under the respective location.

For individual instrumental lessons, we offer one free trial lesson.

What happens if my child misses a lesson?

Missed lessons in group courses (early childhood music education) cannot be made up or refunded. After prior consultation, course places may be transferred to another person; however, refunds are not possible. If a course session is cancelled due to the teacher’s absence, it will of course be rescheduled or refunded.

For individual lessons cancelled by the participant, there is no entitlement to a make-up lesson or refund. Lessons cannot be transferred to another person. If a lesson is cancelled due to the teacher’s absence, it will be rescheduled. With our subscription contract, we guarantee 36 lessons per school year.

Can siblings participate?

Group courses (early childhood music education): Siblings up to and including 11 months of age may participate free of charge in the same music course. From the age of 11 months, siblings pay 50% of the regular course fee.

In both cases, prior registration by email is required.

Individual lessons: For siblings participating in individual lessons, a separate registration and individual contract are required.

No sibling discount is available for individual lessons.

What happens if my child is sick?

If you or your child have symptoms of illness, we kindly ask you to be considerate of the group and the teacher and not attend the course or lesson.

For individual lessons, online lessons are possible.

If a course or lesson has to be cancelled due to illness or other reasons, we will inform you in good time by email.

What does my child need to bring to the course?

No special equipment is required. For group courses, we recommend comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement, as well as non-slip socks for children.

For babies and toddlers, please bring everything your child needs during the course (e.g. a water bottle, pacifier, changing supplies, and a suitable mat for your baby to lie on).

For individual lessons and the first trial lesson, we provide the required materials and, if necessary, an instrument.
